1) INTRODUCTION
1.1 This job description defines the duties, authority and responsibilities of the Project Manager.
2) FUNCTIONAL ROLE
2.1 The basic function of the Project Manager is to coordinate, schedule and oversee all functions required in the completion of contracted work in compliance with Company Policy, OSHA, AISC, AWS, Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA), RCSC and other governing associations and agencies related to our industry.
3) REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Education
Required: High School Degree or Equivalent
Preferred: College Degree in Management, Structural Engineering or related degree
3.2 Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
This position must demonstrate integrity, ability and sound judgment. Project Manager must possess excellent communication skills and diplomacy. Ability to learn and utilize all software owned and installed by Ritner Steel, Inc. in the performance of the project management position. A minimum of two years' experience in a manufacturing environment and experience in a like or similar industry is required.
3.3 Working environment
A shop environment with moderate noise and temperature variations. Job sites in various stages of completion.
4) REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
4.1 The Project Manager reports directly to the VPO.
5) RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
5.1 Must be familiar with and have a good understanding of the various codes and standards prevalent in the steel fabrication industry as dictated by the Company, OSHA, AISC, AWS, Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) and other governing associations and agencies.
5.2 Coordination and scheduling of various segments of work involved in the completion of contracted work once awarded. Once scheduling is obtained by the Project Manager, it is his/her responsibility to ensure that all deadlines are met, to include detailing, procurement, production, delivery and erection.
5.3 Effective communication with both the internal and external customer to ensure efficient completion of the work in compliance with all contract requirements. Must include written records of all correspondence.
5.4 Communication of project scope, contract requirements, change orders and schedules to all departments.
5.5 Timely billing of all projects in conjunction with accounting.
5.6 Ensure that all contract changes are approved by the General Contractor and the President of Ritner Steel, Inc. prior to the performance of any work.
5.7 Coordinate and maintain project management policies and procedures necessary to provide for continuing certification by AISC. Assist in the ongoing AISC Certification process.
5.8 Ensure that the quality of products produced by Ritner Steel, Inc. meets or exceeds established Company guidelines in accordance with OSHA, AISC, AWS, Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) and other governing associations and agencies.
5.9 Analyze current systems utilized in all aspects of project management to determine additional efficiencies in production and delivery. Written recommendations to VPO and/or President for review and implementation.
5.10 Must have a good understanding of the logical sequence of material movement throughout the shop and the relationship from one process to the next.
5.11 Possess a working understanding of the machinery used in the fabrication process.
5.12 Ability to read drawings and identify potential problems.
5.13 Maintain an active role in issues of safety and maintain standing and involvement in the Company’s Safety Committee.

7) COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
7.1 This is a salaried position. Normal hours are from 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required as set forth above.
7.2 Position qualifies for company benefits after 90-day probationary period has been satisfied.
